Skill Development Training on Waste wood crafts, Turn Wood Crafts and Wooden Toys for promoting Rural Engineering & New Technology Industries:
RIIELG developed a 20-days training curriculum focused on Waste wood crafts, Turn wood crafts, and Wooden toys, and assisted KVIC
in identifying need-based machine tools, ultimately training 6000 rural artisans across India. The Institute has been appointed as Technical Associate by KVIC to implement interventions in rural engineering and new technology industries. The Institute’s responsibilities include identifying core problematic areas, providing solutions, developing training curriculam, organizing skill development programs for village industries, offering technical expertise, supporting research and development activities, providing technology and data banks, literature, and handholding support for pilot projects, identifying and training artisan groups, evaluating skill development programs, providing guidance, testing machines and tools, designing new products under village industries verticals, and conducting impact assessments.

Skill Development Training under Mineral Based Industry (MBI):
RIIELG trained 400 traditional potters in Tripura, West Bengal and Bihar with support from KVIC. The were also trained on clay preparation using blunger, pug mill and designed different pottery article using electrical wheels. An improved drought furnace was developed at Kharibari pottery cluster in Darjeeling district. 20 potters from Pujali pottery cluster in South 24-Parganas district were trained on press pottery. A press pottery set up was created for the artisans. The interventions improved the production skill, designing skill and finishing skill of the traditional potters.

Training on Bee keeping under Honey Mission:
100 rural women and 30 farmers have been trained on bee-keeping by RIIEL in association with KVIC in Darjeeling and Purulia districts in West Bengal under Honey Mission of Govt of India and cluster development Initiative of Govt. of West Bengal.

Interventions for promoting Polymer & Chemical Based Industry (PCBI):
RIIELG conducted national level seminars and workshop on the scope of polymer and chemical-based industries along with exhibitions of products under PCBI at Kolkata and Siliguri with support from KVIC.

Interventions for promoting Agro-based Food Processing Industry (ABFPI):
Conducted national seminar on the scope of agro-based food processing industries at Mirik in Darjeeling district in West Bengal with support from KVIC. Supported two MSMEs to avail benefit under the scheme PRADIP implemented by KVIC

Entrepreneurship Development Programmes for SC & ST categories under SC & ST Hub:
Conducted 5 Entrepreneurship Awareness Programmes and 2 Skill development programmes on plumbing for the aspiring SC and ST youths under SC & ST Hub supported by Govt. of West Bengal.
